Our History

The Mint to Be officiation service, and now our chapel location, was born from a desire to celebrate love in all its forms. Founded by Tate Craig, an ordained officiant since 2019, Mint to Be started as a heartfelt response to ensure inclusivity in the celebration of union, especially during times when many felt marginalized. With over 100 ceremonies under her belt, Tate has dedicated herself to creating services where every couple, regardless of their background, religion, or identity, can have their moment to shine.

As we are opening the doors to our own venue, Mint to Be remains committed to being a beacon of love, where every celebration is a testament to our belief that love truly knows no bounds.

Inspired by the vibrant spirit of Vegas-style chapels and the cozy charm of Gatlinburg, near the beloved Smoky Mountains and Dolly Parton’s own celebratory flair, Mint to Be is more than just a venue— a landmark of celebration. Here, we promise a fun, welcoming, and memorable experience for every couple, ensuring that from the moment you step through our doors, we hope you feel excitement and joy for your special day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some cool info to know:

How do I book my elopement with you?

Just give click the service on the website you are interested in to learn more. At the bottom of each option is a link to book your ceremony. We'll get you set up faster than you can say 'I do'!

What are your hours?

We personally love Tuesdays, mostly because they aren't Mondays. But we are here for you Tuesday-Friday during business hours for signing walk-ins or appointments during non-business hours can be made anytime.
Check out the elopement package you are interested in for more details for the latest availability (plus the options for booking after hours) – we keep it fresher than your playlist!

What kinds of payment do you take?

We accept love letters, but for logistical reasons, we also need actual money. You can pay for your ceremony via credit card, debit card, or cash- just no checks, please.
And if you’re feeling very 21st century, we take most digital payments, too. So, no need to dig up buried treasure—unless that’s your wedding theme, then we’re all ears!

Do you offer discounts?

Every day is special, so our prices are set to match the value of your experience—no discounts needed. Looking for something super simple? Opt for our $50 marriage license signing. It's all the legality without the frills, like a no-whip latte!

Feeling flexible? Keep an eye on our social media for announcements about future value-packed special packages we have around different occasions!

What can I expect for my elopement?

Our elopements are like a perfectly mixed cocktail: simple, sweet, and to be savored.
The magic starts the moment you say 'yes' to us!

Each elopement gets exclusive access to the chapel space for one hour.

During that time, couples will select their favorite script that they believe fits their style best from a selection of ceremony scripts available.

Soft instrumental music will be playing but guests are welcome to connect to the Bluetooth speaker and play their favorite playlist, if they prefer.

Guests will make their way to the seating along the aisle. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for all, so they can share all the wonderful pictures with you instantly.

If either partner needs to change into another outfit, the back seating area can be closed off at this time. It is also great for couples that want a moment together before or after the ceremony without their guests.

After the ceremony, everyone is welcome to take formal pictures or stay for conversation or planning their day out on the town. We are happy to give recommendations to cool local spots that are great for celebrating!

Before you leave, the officiant will sign your marriage license and give you instructions on what comes next. You are welcome to return the marriage license yourself, if you would like, but we are happy to return it for you as well!

Little extras, including coffee, hot chocolate, bubbles, boutonnieres, hair pins, and other fun items are available in the back sitting space. These items are available for any couple during their elopement ceremony. We ask that any guests that would like to take some commemorative items consider leaving a donation to continue to fund these wonderful items to future brides and grooms.

What is the weirdest wedding you can do?

How weird do you want to go? If you dream of a zombie-themed elopement or want to exchange vows in superhero costumes, we're all in. Just remember: the only thing we don't find weird is love.

How many guests can we have?

Guests make or break some ceremonies! Check out your specific package to see how many guests can attend.

Where are you located?

As we recently secured our hidden gem of a chapel in downtown Cookeville.

You can find us at:
145 S Jefferson Ave. Ste J
Cookeville, Tn 38501

When we say hidden, we mean it. Some here are some helpful hints. We are next door to Gabe's parking lot, just up the hill. When you pull into our parking lot, our door is near the back of the building. Look for our sign on the exterior door.

What do I do if I am having cold feet?

First, breathe! Second, how about some warm socks? But seriously, if you’re feeling jittery, our team is here to support you every step of the way. We're like the best man you never knew you needed.
Also, as advocates for safe relationships, we will never push for a ceremony if someone is not ready.

Is your service a place for couples from all walks of life?

Absolutely! We believe love knows no bounds. No matter your background, orientation, or style, you're not just welcome—you're celebrated. Our doors (and hearts) are open to everyone who believes in love triumphs over hate. So come as you are; we can't wait to be a part of your story!

What is not allowed?

We’re all about celebrating love in a joyful and respectful environment. To keep the good vibes going, we don’t allow illegal alcohol or drug use, and abusive actions or harmful rhetoric toward anyone—staff or guests—are a definite no-go. Safety and respect are our top priorities, so behavior that threatens these may lead to cancellation of the service without refund. Let's keep it classy and pleasant for everyone!

What about a marriage license? How does that work?

If you are looking to be legally wed through the eyes of the law, you will need a marriage license from the county clerk, although if you are looking to be spiritually married, a marriage license is not required.
Information about obtaining your marriage license can be found online, and we will provide you with an easy to follow guide when you fill out your intake form.

"Best friend" ceremonies, vow renewals, and personal or spiritual vows do not require a marriage license, but will not have legal marriage status in the state of TN.

What about vendors?

WE LOVE OUR LOCAL VENDORS!

Please let us know if you are hiring your own officiant (outside of the one already provided with the chapel), photographer, DJ, or other insured service. We are happy to prepare for their arrival and set-up needs.

If you want to hire someone, but do not have anyone in mind, we have recommendations for local professionals that we personally love as well!
